Medical Marijuana, Inc. subsidiary HempMeds® returned earlier this week from an East Coast trip that included significant medical cannabis events in Florida and New York.
HempMeds® first headed to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, for the Southeast Cannabis Conference and Expo (SCCE) from June 9-11. There, our representatives met with medical marijuana patients, industry employees, entrepreneurs and business owners, and even health officials to demonstrate firsthand the benefits of HempMeds® CBD hemp oil products.
Having just passed their medical cannabis law this May, Florida is in the process of establishing their program and patients will soon be able to access the benefits of marijuana. However, in the interim, cannabis products derived from hemp, like those distributed by HempMeds® have been federally legal for years and are currently available to all Floridians. President and CEO Dr. Stuart Titus.
Raul Elizalde also took the stage to share his emotional experience as the father of a special needs daughter and how he was drawn into the medical cannabis community after he founded the Por Grace Foundation to assist families in a similar situation as his own. Raul is a widely respected activist and supporter of cannabis initiatives in Mexico who has been publicly thanked by Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto for his efforts to help pass a bill that authorizes the use of medical cannabis in the country.
Because of medical cannabis’s potential to positively impact Florida’s large Latino population, the SCCE and its participants received focused press coverage in Spanish-speaking outlets like Telemundo, as well as Benzinga and the local ABC affiliate.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]After completing the event in Florida, the team travelled north to participate in the 4th Annual Cannabis World Congress & Business Exposition (CWCBE) in New York.
Held at New York’s famous Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, the CWCBE highlighted the vast potential of the cannabis industry in New York and on a national level. Similar to the SCCE in Florida, the event attracted cannabis entrepreneurs, industry leaders, medical experts, business owners, investors, and medical marijuana patients from New York and around the world.
Dr. Titus also spoke at the event in New York, giving a presentation titled “Current Medical Research on CBD”. Tapping into his knowledge of the cannabis plant and its use therapeutically, Dr. Titus discussed the extensive beneficial properties cannabis can provide through its interaction with the human body’s native endocannabinoid system.
HempMeds® also welcomed CBD advocates Penny Howard, founder of Hope4Harper, her daughter Lilly, and Craig Pagano, the Long Island, NY, father of a special needs daughter, to our booth, giving those at the event the unique opportunity to chat with these families about their positive experiences using CBD.
The Pagano’s story was picked up by NBC News New York. The news outlet revealed the family’s struggle with their daughter’s condition and the significant role CBD hemp oil has played in their lives.
