THE FIRST TO INTRODUCE MEDICAL CANNABIS PRODUCTS TO PUERTO RICO

In Sept. of 2015, Medical Marijuana, Inc. became the first company to have cannabis products approved for sale in the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico. This island of 3.6 million is a significant market for CBD hemp oil products like Real Scientific Hemp Oil™ (RSHO™).

The Departmento de Salud (Department of Health) in Puerto Rico approved 12 RSHO™ products through Medical Marijuana, Inc. subsidiary HempMeds® for use in the territory. With the official certificates of approval the Departmento de Salud, RSHO™ products can be sold to Puerto Ricans without a prescription in any pharmacy.

Previously, cannabis products were banned in Puerto Rico, but this began to change in 2014, when Kannaway™ launched in the U.S. territory. Kannaway™ and Medical Marijuana, Inc. hosted their first press conference and live networking event in Puerto Rico, leading to major media coverage about the benefits of cannabis products by national outlets like Telemundo and Univision and locally in newspapers like the San Juan Star. This was the spark needed to begin the conversation surrounding cannabis reform in Puerto Rico.

Then on May 7, 2015, 233 days after Kannaway™ launched their business model on the island, the governor of Puerto Rico, Alejandro Garcia Padilla, officially legalized medical marijuana in response to growing public interest stemming from Medical Marijuana, Inc.’s media push.
