The wellness benefits of CBD are everywhere these days, causing an influx of products, from CBD infused beauty products and CBD vapes to CBD oil and CBD infused foods, to hit the market, and demand continues to grow as more and more people look to try CBD.

As people seek to include CBD in all parts of their wellness routines, CBD massages are soaring in popularity.

Interested in capturing the benefits of a CBD massage for yourself or your clients? Here is our CBD massage oil recipe, making it easy to create your own DIY CBD massage oil. First, let’s look at the wellness benefits of using CBD topically and why it makes sense to use a CBD massage oil.

Why Use a CBD Topical?

Just as taking CBD internally by ingesting it or vaping it provides wellness benefits throughout the body, using CBD topically can similarly allow CBD to benefit the body’s surface.

CBD had been tapped as an ingredient in topical products like facial masks, moisturizers, sunscreen, shampoos and conditioners, and more.

CBD topicals are absorbed by your skin and hair follicles, where they interact with cannabinoid receptors located there. That means that a CBD massage oil provides CBD’s benefits across the entire surface of the body during a massage.

CBD, like all cannabinoids, interacts with the body’s self regulatory system – the endocannabinoid system – tasked with keeping the body in balance. CBD is non-intoxicating, so a CBD massage won’t cause any euphoric effects, but you will feel relaxed.

With an eye towards the benefits of CBD, its use as an enhancement for massages makes sense. The advantages of hemp oil go far beyond CBD, though. When you use a full spectrum CBD oil to create your CBD massage oil, you will also take advantage of the many vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that can help nourish your skin.

When you use a CBD isolate to create your massage oil, you can focus on benefits of CBD while avoiding other trace cannabinoids like THC.

Benefits of a CBD Massage

Massage can be a great way to address sore muscles and combat stress. Soothing massage experience that will help you feel relaxed and your muscles feel loose.

Because of the advantages of using CBD hemp oil body care products, more and more, massage businesses are offering CBD oil massages. Offered as an upgrade to their standard massage or as a featured selling point, CBD infused massages are part of a larger trend of CBD being used to promote well being.

Athletes can also benefit from a CBD sports massage to assist in recovery post workout or after competition to sooth muscles and joints and get moving again.

You don’t need to go get a professional massage to enjoy the benefits of CBD massage oil. Try massaging CBD oil into your legs, neck, shoulders, arms, or anywhere you feel knots or tightness. This can help you target areas that need the most help.

Whether you want to create your own DIY CBD massage oil for your own use at home or to use in your massage business, this easy to follow CBD massage oil recipe put the benefits of CBD in your hands.

CBD Massage Oil Recipe

Making your own CBD massage oil is easy with CBD products from Medical Marijuana, Inc. Using our CBD oils or CBD isolate, you can craft your own massage oil, giving you control over the ingredients. This way, you can add essential oils and aromatherapy benefits to your massage oil.

Here we will discuss the basics for making a CBD massage oil, but the options for customization are nearly endless, allowing you to control CBD potency, fragrance, oil consistency, and more. Here is a quick look at the supplies you need to make your own DIY CBD massage oil.

What you will need:

  • ¼ cup carrier oil
  • CBD isolate, liquid, or concentrate
  • Up to 12 drops of various essential oil
  • ½ tablespoon of beeswax (optional)
  • Double boiler
  • Dark glass container

Your CBD

Your CBD massage oil can be made with RSHO™ CBD Isolate, RSHO™ CBD Gold Label Liquid, or Gold Label RSHO™ CBD oil concentrate. CBD isolate is often used to create infused oil like CBD massage oil. That is because it dissolves well in carrier oils, contains no THC, and is odorless, allowing other essential oil scents to shine through.

If you prefer to use full spectrum CBD oil to create your massage oil, then Gold Label RSHO™ CBD liquids and CBD concentrates will be your best choice. We further discuss full spectrum CBD oil vs CBD isolate below.

You can adjust the amount of CBD in your massage oil by adding more or less CBD to this recipe. Remember 1 mg of CBD isolate equals 1 mg of CBD in your massage oil. If using full spectrum hemp oil, refer to the amount of CBD per serving to determine how much to use.

Your Carrier Oil

The base for your massage oil will be a carrier oil of your choosing. Many prefer to use coconut oil as their carrier oil, but other options include jojoba oil, almond oil, and even olive oil.

Your Essential Oils

You will also have flexibility in essential oils to add to your massage oil. While you can use a massage oil featuring just CBD and a carrier oil, essential oils like those listed below can add an aromatherapeutic element to your massage.

Popular essential oils you can use include the following:

  • Sandalwood oil
  • Orange oil
  • Patchouli oil
  • Ylang ylang oil
  • Bergamot oil
  • Lavender oil
  • Peppermint oil
  • Tea tree oil
  • Rose oil
  • Cedarwood oil
  • Frankincense oil
  • Jasmine oil
  • Juniper oil

This list, however, just scratches the surface of the essential oils that can be added to your CBD massage oil to take advantage of their natural aromatherapeutic properties.

Making CBD Massage Oil

Once you have your ingredients, you are ready to combine them in your double boiler to begin infusing your carrier oil with CBD. Over low heat, add your carrier oil, essential oils, and CBD oil or CBD isolate and stir as the massage oil ingredients blend together and the CBD or CBD oil becomes fully integrated.

If you want to thicken your massage oil for a salve or balm like consistency, you can drop ½ tablespoon of beeswax into the double boiler. Allow it to melt and stir until blended completely. You can adjust the consistency of your massage oil by adding more or less beeswax. This thickening step is optional.

Once fully mixed, remove massage oil from heat and allow to cool slightly before transferring to your dark glass jar for storage. Don’t have a dark glass jar? Any container will do, including a clear glass mason jar or a plastic food storage container.

Before use, shake your oil well. Some carrier oils, like coconut oil, might solidify at room temperature. You can warm your massage oil by running your sealed glass jar under warm water until liquid. If you added beeswax to your massage oil to create a salve, you can also warm it by rubbing it between your fingers.

These CBD massage oil recipes don’t have any preservatives, so try to use your CBD massage oil within three months to prevent it from going rancid. Storing your oil in the fridge between uses can help extend its shelf life.

What is CBD?

CBD is just one of over 100 cannabinoids found in cannabis plants like hemp or marijuana. When ingested or applied topically, naturally occurring phytocannabinoids like CBD are absorbed and interact with receptors found throughout the body. These receptors are part of a central self regulatory system – the endocannabinoid system – tasked with keeping the body in balance and functioning at its peak.

Our CBD oil is extracted from our top quality, non-GMO hemp that is high in CBD and low in THC. All our CBD oil products are thoroughly tested throughout our cultivation, extraction, and manufacturing processes to ensure their quality and safety.

CBD products are available in two types: full spectrum CBD oil and CBD isolate. Full spectrum CBD oil contains all the same nutrients and active compounds that are found in the natural hemp plant – including essential vitamins and minerals, omega fatty acids, proteins, other trace cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and more.

CBD isolate is a 99 percent pure CBD powder. It is refined from the same full spectrum CBD oil used in our other CBD products, but is then refined through a proprietary filtration process to create our incredibly pure CBD isolate.
