Kannaway Selected to U.S. Hemp Roundtable Board of Directors

Our portfolio company Kannaway joins the board of hemp industry coalition, the U.S. Hemp Roundtable, to further our efforts to promote the hemp industry in the United States.

Medical Marijuana, Inc. subsidiary Kannaway has been selected as a member of the Board of Directors U.S. Hemp Roundtable. As a member of the U.S. Hemp Roundtable board, Kannaway will work to advance hemp in the U.S. by supporting smart regulations for hemp cultivation and processing. The company will also help to guide safety and quality standards for the CBD oil industry and to promote CBD products as an alternative wellness product.

Medical Marijuana, Inc. was the first company to develop CBD oil products derived from hemp and distribute them throughout the United States. Promoting Hemp and CBD

Medical Marijuana, Inc. and our family of companies have been vocal advocates for hemp and CBD through the years, hosting or sponsoring hemp and CBD educational events. Kannaway also regularly hosts its Hemp for Humanity events around the world to promote the wellness, environmental, and economic benefits of hemp.

What is the U.S. Hemp Roundtable?

Formed in 2017, the U.S. Hemp Roundtable is a coalition of more than 50 leading hemp companies representing every link of the industry’s supply chain from cultivation to sale, including CBD oil companies like Kannaway.

The organization achieved its primary goal of securing the passage of the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, which established hemp federally as an agricultural commodity and permanently removed it from regulation as a controlled substance, legalizing it for nationwide cultivation and legitimizing hemp products. This was an important milestone for the hemp industry, setting the stage for a hemp renaissance in the U.S. as hemp rushes back into our economy.

The U.S. Hemp Roundtable now continues to focus on lobbying efforts in state capitals to fully legalize hemp and popular hemp derived products like CBD oil. According to the organization’s website, current missions include:

Focused lobbying efforts in state capitols to fully legalize hemp and popular hemp-derived products like cannabidiol (CBD)
Facilitating information exchange with law enforcement and federal agency officials
Continued long-term legislative advocacy on other major policy issues, remaining vigilant against potential attempts of rival industries to halt hemp’s progress
Coordination with the US Hemp Authority, whose certification program promotes high standards, best practices and self-regulation, providing confidence to consumers that hemp products are safe and to law enforcement that they are legal
