Held in Medellín, Colombia, from November 24-27, EXPO MEDE Weed is a premier international medical cannabis event hosted yearly to promote the knowledge and culture of the cannabis industry. This year’s event was held in the beautiful Orquideorama Botanical Gardens, creating a stunning setting for the promotion of the benefits of medical cannabis.
The annual event gathers doctors, patients, researchers, and business professionals to:
- Discuss the latest breakthroughs in cannabis innovation and research
- Review changes to cannabis laws worldwide
- Exhibit a variety of medical cannabis products
At this year’s event, Medical Marijuana, Inc. portfolio company HempMeds® participated as a Gold Sponsor and hosted a booth where HempMeds® representatives demonstrated the company’s line of CBD hemp oil products and answered questions.

In 2015, president Juan Manuel Santos signed legislation allowing cannabis derivatives for medical uses. It is legal to grow, process, and sell products created using cannabis (hemp) plants containing less than 1% THC. Cannabis plants with more than 1% THC are regulated separately and restricted more heavily than low-THC hemp products.
Executives from the Medical Marijuana, Inc. portfolio of companies joined dozens of speakers in speaking to the hundreds of patients and doctors present at the event, including:

Dr. Titus spoke about the science of cannabinoids, revealing information about the endocannabinoid system, how it is stimulated by cannabinoids, and how this can be used in healthcare.
Raul Elizalde, President of HempMeds® Mexico, shared his own experience as founder of Por Grace and stories of HempMeds®, previous success in international markets like Mexico, Brazil, and Paraguay. Raul recently spoke before a World Health Organization committee considering international rescheduling of CBD.
Respected physician Dr. Carlos Aguirre also spoke at the event. Dr. Aguirre became an international name in the medical cannabis field after he published the positive results of studies exploring the efficacy of CBD in the form of HempMeds®‘s RSHO-X™ for conditions like refractory epilepsy and tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC). At EXPO MEDE Weed, Dr. Aguirre wrote what is believed to be the first ever prescription for RSHO-X™ for a patient in Colombia for a young boy with Dravet Syndrome.
