Six-Time Olympic Gold Medalist Amy Van Dyken Partners with Kannaway Sports to Promote CBD Use

Newest athlete to join Kannaway Sports is Olympic swimmer and spinal injury survivor Amy Van Dyken.

Six-time Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer Amy Van Dyken has partnered with Medical Marijuana, Inc. subsidiary Kannaway to promote the use of CBD products. She will share on the Kannaway Sports page her experience using Kannaway’s products and the positive results she saw.

“We’re thrilled to work with Mrs. Van Dyken and to continue the conversation about the benefits that former athletes like her are experiencing from using CBD,” said Kannaway CEO Blake Schroeder. “Her personal story is a perfect example of how CBD not only can improve a person’s life, but also enable them to continue living the active lifestyles they have grown accustomed to.”

An Olympic Winner

Van Dyken competed in the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics, winning a total of six gold medals as a swimmer at the two events. She also set American and world records along the way and was even featured on her own Wheaties box.

Van Dyken has always inspired others with her cheerful, positive outlook on life. She is also an intense competitor who faces down any challenge. Both of these personality traits would prove valuable in her life’s biggest challenge.

A Life Changing Accident

In 2014, Van Dyken was severely injured in an ATV accident, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. In a sobering moment before going in for emergency surgery on her spine, her doctors told her to “say goodbye” to her husband, just in case.

The surgery was a success, but Van Dyken still had months of recovery ahead of her, including the healing of her fractured vertebrae, the strengthening of her upper body to assist in the use of her wheelchair, and of course, working to improve the condition of her paralyzed lower body.

Less two months later, Van Dyken took her first steps since her accident as part of her physical therapy – the result of hours of strenuous daily work. The one thing that Van Dyken would not do was swim, a decision she made during routine physical therapy in a pool.

Although she has been progressing in her recovery, she will always live with the effects of this injury, including a persistent pain that has led to doctors prescribing many pharmaceuticals.

Trying CBD

Earlier this year, Van Dyken was introduced to CBD oil products from Kannaway through another member of the Kannaway Sports team. At first, she wasn’t seeing the results she wanted, but at his suggestion, she increased her daily servings.

The change was immediate, and she now uses THC-free Kannaway Pure CBD Liquid daily. She can’t believe the results, and like other Kannaway Sports partners, Van Dyken has been able to reduce her overall use of various pharmaceuticals.

“Kannaway’s CBD products have drastically improved my quality of life. I was skeptical at first, but Kannaway Pure CBD is making my life enjoyable again,” said Van Dyken. “I take two tablespoons of the Kannaway Pure CBD in my coffee every morning and I feel like a new person. I hope my story can help spread awareness of the benefits of CBD so that people like me can feel more comfortable giving it a try.”

Amy Van Dyken remains full of life, even after her accident and her exhausting recovery. She feels great each day and has even started getting into her pool again. She’s also giving back and using her own experience with spinal injury to help others. She’s started the Amy Van Dyken Foundation and helps raise awareness for those with spinal injuries. The foundation even assists families get properly sized wheelchairs for their children.

“It is an honor to work with individuals like Amy Van Dyken who share the same goal of increasing education and awareness of CBD as a safe wellness product,” said Medical Marijuana, Inc. CEO Dr. Stuart Titus. “We hope this partnership will help clear up the many misconceptions people have about cannabis and CBD.”
