Following the WHO’s announcement of its stance that CBD not be considered a drug, several news reports covering the event highlighted MJNA’s role in the organization’s decision.
Several international news publications covering last week’s World Health Organization announcement of its recommendation that cannabidiol (CBD) not be subject to international drug scheduling specifically highlighted the impact of Medical Marijuana, Inc. Executive Raul Elizalde.
Raul Addresses WHO Committee about CBD at United Nations
Raul, President of Medical Marijuana, Inc. subsidiary HempMeds® Mexico, was invited to speak about CBD at the WHO’s Thirty-Ninth meeting of the Expert Committee on Drug Dependence in Geneva, Switzerland in November. The ECDD was reevaluating its international regulations of 16 substances, including CBD, a cannabis-derived, non-psychoactive compound that interacts with our naturally occurring systems.
On behalf of MJNA’s family of companies, Raul spoke to the ECDD about the benefits of CBD and encouraged the special committee to classify the non-psychoactive compound as a nutritional supplement and food rather than a drug. The special committee’s recommendation regarding the regulation of CBD is likely to have positive worldwide implications on legal access.
MJNA’s #RaulWHO campaign followed Raul during his journey to Geneva. Through the #RaulWHO page, those concerned about the future of CBD could keep up with regular announcements and personal streaming video updates from Raul.
