HempMeds® to Participate in 6th Annual Run4Hope as Platinum Sponsor

Medical Marijuana, Inc. subsidiary HempMeds® is traveling to Texas this weekend to take part in the 6th Annual Run4Hope Festival and 5K.

For the fifth year in a row, HempMeds® will be participating in the Run4Hope, providing support for this important fundraising event. HempMeds®’ donation of $10,000 will help non-profit organization Hope4Harper continue funding CDKL5 and epilepsy research and advance the science of neurological disorders.

“We are thrilled to be once again participating in the annual Run4Hope festival for the 5th time. The passion and excitement for innovation found at the gathering aligns very closely to the mission of Medical Marijuana, Inc. and its subsidiary HempMeds®,” said CEO of Medical Marijuana, Inc. Dr. Stuart Titus. “Events like this are part of the driving force that is removing the stigma from medical cannabis and particularly hemp-based non-psychoactive and non-intoxicating CBD.”

Although the 5K run is the event’s main draw, the Run4Hope will also have a Kids Corral, pony rides, food trucks, snow cones and cotton candy, and a Vendor Village. The organization expects up to 300 runners and their families on Saturday.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text][vc_gallery images=”26135,26136,26137,26138″ img_size=”full” column=”ig_col_4″][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Hope4Harper intends to earn $20,000 for neurological research at this weekend’s event. They have already raised $16,000 going into this weekend. According to the event’s website, “You can join the fight by running, participating in the festivities as a family, donating, sponsoring, and getting the word out about Run4Hope by simply sharing our page with others on your social media.”

Hope4Harper was founded by Penny Howard, a Dallas mother raising a special needs daughter. The Howard family found out about CBD after weeks and weeks of research online, leading Penny Howard to later become a vocal advocate for CBD oil.

By posting the progress of her daughter Harper’s journey on Hope4Harper’s Facebook blog, she became the catalyst for the historic decision by Brazil’s government to import Medical Marijuana, Inc.’s RSHO™ – and subsidize payments for RSHO™ under the Brazilian government’s health care system.

“The Run 4 Hope festival features Moms helping Moms around the globe and the historic nature of one Dallas-based Mother’s Facebook post that helped a Brazilian Mother find benefit from [CBD oil]” continued Dr. Titus. “Eventually, this legalized hemp-CBD products, a cannabis plant derivative within the country of Brazil – a trend that is now sweeping to other Latin American countries. We are proud to be part of this story.”

Sadly, Harper Howard passed away on Jan. 8, 2016,; however, Harper’s bold spirit lives on through the family’s decision to donate her 28-month daily CBD oil use brain and a deep tissue sample to medical research. Harper was the first-ever brain and deep tissue sample donated to CDKL5 research in world history, and her parents hope to keep Harper’s legacy alive by helping to fund the research.

Harper Howard’s donation is already having a profound impact on medical research for a wide range of neurological conditions under the guidance of University of California San Diego School of Medicine’s lead stem cell researcher, Dr. Alysson Muotri.

Proceeds will benefit much-needed research on neurological disorders and support studies by epileptologist Frances Jensen, M.D., at the University of Pennsylvania, and Dr. Muotri’s work on Harper’s brain and deep tissue donation.

The Run4Hope will take place Saturday, September 16th, at the Trivium Academy Cross Country Trail, located at 2205 E Hebron Parkway in Carrollton, Texas. Check-in for the event begins at 7 am, and the 5K run starts promptly at 8 am. Individual entry into the run and festival is $35. Group discounts are available at $25 per person for groups over 4. There will even be a trophy for the event’s largest “family”.

You can also donate to the event as a “Virtual Runner”, supporting the Run4Hope from the comfort of your bed. Your swag bundle will be mailed to your home after the event.
