Medical Marijuana, Inc. threw its full support behind the Americans for Safe Access yearly conference in the nation’s capital as part of our mission to expand the availability of cannabinoids to anyone who needs them.
Last weekend’s ASA Unity Conference in Washington, DC, was a gathering place for medical marijuana patients, providers, activists, and medical and legal professionals from around the country to discuss best practices, exchange ideas, and learn how to navigate medical marijuana laws in this new political landscape.
The Unity Conference 2017 was helped made possible by donations like Medical Marijuana, Inc.’s sponsorship. Because the goals of Americans for Safe Access align closely with those of Medical Marijuana, Inc., we are proud to join this important movement to protect the rights of medical marijuana patients everywhere.
“We are proud to be on the forefront of innovations in natural, botanical high-cannabidiol (CBD) products that are improving the lives of people worldwide,” said Dr. Stuart Titus, CEO of Medical Marijuana, Inc., the first publicly traded cannabis company in the United States. “Unity 2017 is a fantastic opportunity for industry leaders to exchange ideas and bring attention to the need for and protection of policies that can save lives.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”23223,23222″ size=”600×500″ column=”ig_col_2″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]At the 5th Annual National Medical Cannabis Unity Conference, participants advanced the national agenda for medical cannabis policy reform by engaging with lawmakers and each other in a concerted effort to increase safe and reliable cannabis access.
With so many reservations about the fate of cannabis under the new U.S. administration, 2017 will be a critical year to fight for responsible medical cannabis policy. This high profile event was created to draw public awareness to the topic of cannabis reform in Washington and around the country.
There is a great deal of uncertainty surrounding how the President and his cabinet will handle the spread of medical and recreational cannabis in the country. Congress can act now to secure safe and legal access for millions of Americans by passing a comprehensive reform bill and taking a more compassionate stance on cannabis. Conference attendees, including Medical Marijuana, Inc. President and CEO Dr. Stuart Titus, were able to lobby members of congress to help relay the significance of this issue to lawmakers for the coming year.
“By attending this Conference, participants are also given the ability to change history by making an impact on how their legislative representatives view medical cannabis,” said Steph Sherer, Executive Director of Americans for Safe Access. “Attendees are given the chance to meet with members of Congress about federal comprehensive legislation. This is a rare opportunity to have their voices be heard by decision-makers that affect their ability to access safe medical cannabis.”
Medical Marijuana, Inc. hosted a booth at the conference where our representatives met face-to-face with conference attendees and fellow advocates to share information about cannabis reform, medical cannabis research, and overcoming the barriers to full legalization. Visitors to our booth also learned more about hemp and CBD oil and discovered how they both fit into the story of cannabis legalization.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”23226,23224″ size=”600×500″ column=”ig_col_2″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Members of the Medical Marijuana, Inc. team were also invited to be a part of several of the event’s educational panels. First, on Saturday, Dr. Titus participated in a panel titled Exciting Developments in Cannabis Research & Access, during which he will share his expertise and years of hands on experience with the medical use of cannabis.
The next day, Dion Markgraaff joined a panel titled Global Medical Cannabis Policy & Lessons Learned to discuss the latest efforts globally to access medical cannabis with leading reform experts. Dion utilized his experience in the global cannabis industry to help establish HempMeds® Mexico, Medical Marijuana, Inc.’s local distribution branch.
Finally, on Monday, Andrew Hard, CEO of Medical Marijuana, Inc.’s PR firm CMW Media, will lend personal experience to CBD-Only States, a workshop session that looks at what comes next in states where CBD and CBD-rich medicine is legal, but not other types of medical cannabis. The panel will examine how CBD laws fit into the bigger picture of medical marijuana legalization.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”23225″ size=”1000×500″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Americans for Safe Access (ASA) created the Unity Conference specifically to gather activists from across the globe and provide them the ability to be active agents for change in the medical marijuana movement. Medical Marijuana, Inc. was honored to be a part of this community’s efforts.
