MJNA\u2019s Cannabis Product Approved for Citizen Importation in Brazil for Indication of Parkinson\u2019s<\/em><\/h3>\n

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA \u2013 November 17, 2015<\/b>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<\/span>Medical Marijuana, Inc.<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(OTC Pink: MJNA) is pleased to announce to shareholders and to the public that\u00a0its flagship\u00a0product\u00a0<\/span>Real Scientific Hemp Oil\u2122 (RSHO\u2122)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0has again made world history\u00a0as a\u00a0cannabis product to be approved on a case-by-case basis for Parkinson\u2019s disease by the Brazilian Government Health Agency ANVISA \u2013 which is responsible for approving citizen importation of medicines and botanical remedies from outside of Brazil.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following <\/span>Epilepsy<\/span><\/a> (CDKL5 and Dravet Syndrome), which was the first indication to be approved, <\/span>Parkinson\u2019s disease<\/span><\/a> becomes the second approved indication of\u00a0<\/span>Medical Marijuana, Inc.<\/span><\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>RSHO\u2122<\/span><\/a>\u00a0by Brazil\u2019s ANVISA for importation with medical recommendation.\u00a0Medical Marijuana, Inc. and its partner\u00a0company\u00a0<\/span>HempMeds Brasil<\/span><\/a>\u2122 are working diligently within the framework of the Brazilian Government for approvals of at least five other indications.<\/span><\/p>\n

MJNA\u2019s partner\u00a0<\/span>HempMeds Brasil<\/span><\/a>\u2122 is providing the\u00a0<\/span>RSHO\u2122<\/span><\/a>\u00a0exclusively for the Brazilian marketplace while under temporary case-by-case approval for several additional medical indications, subject to clinical trials within the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, any resident of Brazil who has a government-approved medical indication and who would like to have access to\u00a0<\/span>RSHO\u2122 hemp oil products<\/span><\/a>, may do so with a doctor’s prognosis, prescription and government-approved import documentation.\u00a0<\/span>ANVISA<\/span><\/a>\u00a0has issued a statement on the agency’s website and has also made an effort to explain how to apply for an import certificate. <\/span>HempMeds Brasil<\/span><\/a>\u2122 has been working for over a year on its formal product application and regulatory submission. The company expects this to take at least through 2015 to complete.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The government of Brazil with their 1988 Constitutional right of free health care (SUS) to all citizens is again leading the way by putting the well-being of their people first,” states Stuart W. In 2005, the number of Parkinson\u2019s patients worldwide<\/a> was between 4.1 and 4.6 million. The Parkinson\u2019s Disease foundation states, in the U.S. alone, Parkinson\u2019s is estimated to cost nearly <\/span>$25 billion every year<\/span><\/a> in combined direct and indirect costs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hemp is widely regarded as a \u201cwhole food\u201d and \u201csuper food.\u201d<\/span> MJNA<\/span><\/a>\u2019s cannabidiol<\/span> (CBD) hemp oil<\/span><\/a> is derived from the mature stalk of the hemp plant and<\/span> is considered a food nutrient delivering the benefits of cannabinoids without the psychotropic\/euphoric effects of THC. Until recently, the Brazilian government treated anything derived from cannabis \u2013 even hemp \u2013 as illegal and, therefore, a controlled substance. In a series of landmark rulings, the Brazilian government began permitting the importation of hemp<\/span> CBD oil products<\/span><\/a> \u2013 including<\/span> RSHO<\/span><\/a> \u2013 with registration by the Federal government agency ANVISA. The Federal government agency also<\/span> removed CBD from its prohibited substance use<\/span><\/a> list.<\/span><\/p>\n
