And the cannabis plant and hemp plant have been shown to have medicinal benefits to both.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Marvin Washington, a Sports Advisory Board member for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/medicalmarijuanainc.com\/companies\/kannalife\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kannalife Sciences<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, recently did an interview with Cannabis Frontier about the NFL, concussions, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.treatcte.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">chronic traumatic encephalopathy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (CTE),<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/medicalmarijuanainc.com\/kannalife-spokesman-marvin-washington-raises-awareness-for-cte-on-the-brett-winterble-show\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and how it all relates to cannabis<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Specifically, he talked about how the league needs to research the undeniable connection between the two.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It&#8217;s never been more relevant because football is slowly becoming synonymous with concussions and CTE: look no further than Junior Seau&#8217;s tragic suicide. It was also made a mainstream topic of conversation by the Will Smith movie, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Concussion, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which follows Dr. Bennet Omalu&#8217;s discovery of the disease and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/investors.medicalmarijuanainc.com\/espn-video-kannalife-sciences-marvin-washington-raises-awareness-for-cte-while-nfl-backs-out\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the pushback he got from the NFL<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The game-changer for Washington was when he met Kannalife Sciences founders\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/medicalmarijuanainc.com\/listen-kannalife-sciences-ceo-dean-petkanas-and-medical-marijuana-inc-ceo-stuart-titus-announce-treatcte-awareness-campaign-on-san-diego-union-tribune-radio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dean Petkanas<\/a>\u00a0and Thoma Kikis. They told him that Kannalife had two licenses with National Institutes of Health to research hepatic encephalopathy (HE) and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) using cannabinoids as therapeutic agents.<\/p>\n<p>This license to <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalmarijuanainc.com\/the-significance-of-the-507-patent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">U.S. Patent 6,630,507<\/a> \u2013 \u201cCannabinoids as Antioxidants and Neuroprotectants\u201d &#8211; the \u2018507 Patent &#8211; and Kannalife\u2019s existing preclinical research in HE, is what immediately grabbed Washington\u2019s attention.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI\u2019m trying to let people know that this chemical in the cannabis plant has medicinal benefits not only for the brain, but for the whole body,\u201d says Washington. \u201cIt\u2019s like the allegory that Dean Petkanas loves to tell about a rising flood and a man trapped in his house. The water reaches the first floor and a fire engine and crew come to rescue him, the man responds to the rescue by saying \u2018I\u2019ll be ok, God will save me.\u2019 Then the water reaches the second floor and a coast guard rescue boat comes to rescue the man, and he rejects the effort claiming again, \u2018I\u2019m ok.
