{"id":2633,"date":"2017-09-08T10:56:35","date_gmt":"2017-09-08T10:56:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.medicalmarijuanainc.com\/?p=26084"},"modified":"2017-09-08T10:56:35","modified_gmt":"2017-09-08T10:56:35","slug":"cbd-promoted-breakthrough-treatment-32nd-international-epilepsy-congress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medicalmarijuanainc.com\/2017\/09\/08\/cbd-promoted-breakthrough-treatment-32nd-international-epilepsy-congress\/","title":{"rendered":"CBD Promoted as Breakthrough Treatment at 32nd International Epilepsy Congress"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The 32nd International Epilepsy Congress was held in Barcelona, Spain, this past week, and CBD products were a prominent part of the conversation throughout the event. <\/span><\/i><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Taking place from September 2-6, the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.epilepsycongress.org\/32nd-international-epilepsy-congress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">International Epilepsy Congress<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> gives medical professionals from around the world the chance to speak with the field\u2019s foremost minds and to attend focused presentations revealing various aspects of epilepsy research and the development of treatment options. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Epilepsy continues to prove to be a difficult medical condition to treat. Epilepsy affects an estimated <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.epilepsy.com\/learn\/epilepsy-statistics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">1.3 million to 2.8 million Americans<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Nearly one-third of those patients suffer from seizures that are resistant to traditional anti-epilepsy treatments. As health specialists struggle to adequately control their patients seizures with traditional methods, study after study has demonstrated the efficacy of CBD against epilepsy. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A study published in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.medicalmarijuanainc.com\/cbd-proves-beneficial-childhood-epilepsy-first-large-scale-clinical-trial\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">New England Journal of Medicine<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> this past summer showed CBD to reduce seizure frequency by 39 percent in Dravet syndrome patients. Earlier in the spring, a study published in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.medicalmarijuanainc.com\/cannabis-cuts-seizure-frequency-86-patients-refractory-epilepsy\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Epilepsy &amp; Behavior<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> recorded a reduction of seizures in 86 percent of the patients in the study. Similarly, a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.medicalmarijuanainc.com\/cannabis-reduces-seizures-910-adults-epilepsy-survey-finds\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">study conducted on adult epilepsy patients<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> found the use of CBD lowered seizure frequency in 9 out of 10 patients who participated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In light of this recent research, the epilepsy community and the doctors who treat them are turning to CBD more and more, giving CBD oil products an important place at the International Epilepsy Congress. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On the second day of the event, Dr. Garza presented his <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/medicalmarijuanainc.com\/rsho-x-at-center-of-new-epilepsy-study-revealing-significant-reduction-of-seizures\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">recent study<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> using RSHO-X\u2122, a THC-free CBD oil, as a method of treatment for Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS), a severe form of pediatric epilepsy. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the 39 patients who participated in the study, an 84% average reduction in motor seizures were experienced; 53% of patients reported better than a 75% reduction in seizures; and 17% reported a complete elimination of all seizures over a 4-month period. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Results like this have made CBD a central topic at events like last week\u2019s International Epilepsy Congress in Barcelona.
