Major media outlets, representing millions of views a month, featured Medical Marijuana, Inc. and our portfolio of companies and CBD oil brands this week, covering topics ranging from adding CBD to meals, medical marijuana in Mexico, CBD for athletes, and much more.

A piece published recently in the Washington Post highlighted the booming CBD market in the U.S. The article focused on CBD’s non-psychoactivity and myriad of wellness benefits.

Medical Marijuana, Inc. CEO Dr. Stuart Titus was quoted in the piece, saying, “CBD became known as the hippie’s disappointment” due to its non-psychoactivity. Because of this, CBD was largely bred out of popular marijuana strains in favor of higher levels of euphoria causing THC.

“Now, the hippie’s disappointment is back, rebranded as the stressed-out modern office drudge’s salvation,” Washington Post writer Lavanya Ramanathan said in the piece.

“Some people do want the high, of course,” Titus was quoted saying in the article. “But others are looking for the health and wellness benefits” that CBD can provide.

The story was picked up by Washington Post affiliates and other websites across the U.S., including the following.

Medical Marijuana, Inc. subsidiary HempMeds® Mexico and HempMeds® President, International, Raul Elizalde were featured in a number of recent stories about CBD, Mexico, and the recent WHO decision that CBD should not be scheduled or regulated as a drug.

“I’m ecstatic that these international health leaders agree that CBD is a substance that should not be scheduled and has therapeutic value for a variety of medical conditions,” Raul told the US Health Times in an article exploring the decision by a World Health Organization special committee not to regulate CBD as a drug, acknowledging CBD’s potential health benefits and general safety.

Raul spoke before WHO officials last November before the committee made its recommendation. Raul was one of a select number of CBD experts to present to the special committee, chosen to speak on the benefits of CBD and explain how the compound is non-psychoactive.

Bloomberg’s El Financiero also ran an article detailing the role of HempMeds® Mexico as the first company to have its CBD oil products authorized for distribution in Mexico.

A piece published on the popular food and culture website Epicurious published by Condé Nast featured RSHO™ CBD oil products from Medical Marijuana, Inc. portfolio company HempMeds®.

The article, titled “I Tried Cooking With CBD Oil for 7 Days and Here’s What Happened”, followed author Joe Sevier’s week as he integrated CBD oil into his meals. For the article, Sevier product tested the raw Green, decarboxylated Blue, and filtered Gold label RSHO™ CBD Liquid, which are created by blending our pure CBD hemp oil with MCT oil derived from coconut oil.

Over the course of the week, Sevier added RSHO™ CBD Liquid to a range of meals and snacks, making CBD-infused smoothies, glazed carrots, fried egg sandwiches, salad dressing, PB&J, pesto, and more, helping to give his readers an idea of how to best infuse dishes with CBD through his own personal experience.

In an article titled “Beating the Odds”, HempMeds® spokesperson Liz Carmouche sat down with Gay San Diego to discuss what it was like participating in the first female UFC fight, her role as the first openly lesbian fighter in MMA, and why she has chosen to become an advocate for CBD.

The #6 ranked bantamweight fighter and marine veteran told Gay San Diego “CBD doesn’t have any negative side effects,” she said. “So, the only thing you can get from it is gains. As an athlete, that is all I want. If I am doing something to help my body recover, it’s not going to hurt me down the road. CBD is something I can take every day for the rest of my life and I can take as much as I want today and it is not going to hurt me down the road.”

Seeing what CBD has done as part of her own regimen, Carmouche has become a vocal supporter of CBD use among athletes, leading to her becoming a spokesperson for HempMeds®.

Carmouche also sat down this past week with popular MMA podcast Beyond the Cage with Joel to discuss her UFC career, taking part in the first ever female UFC fight, and her next steps as a fighter and gym owner.

You can find more media coverage of our portfolio companies here, or follow our news feed to stay up-to-date with developments from Medical Marijuana, Inc. and our family of companies.

Medical Marijuana, Inc. continues to drive the conversation surrounding the booming CBD market in the U.S. and internationally.
